THIRD INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON HAWALA

The Third International Conference on Hawala will be held in Abu Dhabi, the capital city of UAE, on ^2nd and ^3rd April,2005( Saturday and Sunday) at Hilton Abu Dhabi Hotel.

As for the previous Conference,  The UAE Central Bank has invited a number of Central Banks, members of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), all the prominent international law enforcement agencies concerned with financial crimes, as well as senior representatives of supranational institutions, and others.

Attendance at the Conference is by invitation only, but those wishing to attend, who have not so far received an invitation, should complete the online Registration Form. The Conference will be free of charge - delegates will be responsible for the cost of their own accommodation and traveling.

The First International Conference on Hawala was held in Abu Dhabi on 15 & 16 May 2002, attended by representatives from 58 countries, (300 participants). The outcome of deliberations and discussions that took place at that conference was the issuance on 16th. May 2002 of the “Abu Dhabi Declaration on Hawala”.

The second International Conference on Hawala was held in Abu Dhabi from 3rd to 5th April, 2004 and was attended by 375 delegates representing 70 Countries.

 We would like to underscore the importance which is attached to the subject of Informal Money Transfer Systems by the regulatory, supranational institutions and law enforcement authorities, not only by the steps taken to establish control mechanisms, but also the commitment to hold conferences, where the subject can be thoroughly tackled to reach a consensus on the appropriate steps needed to license and control these systems.

Please note that physical registration will take place either on Friday evening,^1st April, between 8:00 - 11:00 pm, when a buffet dinner will be available, or on Saturday morning, ^2nd April, between 8:00 and 9:00am. Continental breakfast will be available for all participants on ^2nd  April up to 9:00am.
